COVERGIRL blastflipstick Campaign

As a BzzAgent member, I was recently given the chance to try a unique new product from Covergirl: The Covergirl Blastflipstick.  What is a blastflipstick? This product is two lipsticks in one. Dual sided, one side is a creamy color and the other is shimmery. Very blendable, this product allows the user to create their own unique look.  This product line offers tons of different shades like Whisper, Pucker and Minx. You can buy them at most drug stores and major retailers.

I'm not very good at applying makeup. I can do the basics but when it comes to making my makeup look like the magazine ads, I fail. But this product makes it easy to have beautiful bold lips quickly.  I probably wouldn't wear this product every day, but when I want a noticeable awesome look, I would definitely reach for the Covergirl Blastflipstick!

Kiss Ever Pro Lashes

In a VoxBox that I received from Influenster was the Kiss Ever PRO Lashes. I was suppose to try them out, but I am just too chicken to put glue on my eyes. I am an accident waiting to happen, so glue near my eyes would not be a smart thing to do. So I am just going to tell you about the product.

The Kiss Ever Pro Lashes are 100% human hair. No synthetic fibers here. The starter kit comes with Pro 24 hour hold latex free glue with easy applicator.  The kit does look pretty good and easy to use.  Just trim the lashes, if needed. Apple some adhesive and wait for it become tacky. Then using the lash applicator apply the lashes.  If anyone is looking for a great brand of eyelashes, I would suggest using these.

Goody Simple Styles

As a member of Influenster, I received a voxbox.  Inside the VoxBox was a wonderful product by Goody: The Spin Pin.

The Spin Pin is just so great.  All you do is pull your hair back like you are going to put it into a ponytail. Then twist your hair and make a bun. After that, just take the spin pins and spin them into the bun. And Presto! Amazing bun in like a minute. I love this product.  It was so easy to use.  My hair elastics are now jealous of the Spin Pin because why reach for a hair elastic when you can just use these to make a great looking hairstyle.

B&BW Mini Candle

As part of the Influenster Beauty Blogger VoxBox 2012 I recieved a Bath and Body Works Mini Candle. This little candle might be small but its scent isn't. The candle I received was Black Pepper Bergamot. I had never in my life heard of a scent like that before but I gave it a shot.  It is a bit strong to me, but it smells pretty good. It has a nice essential oil smell to it. Nothing too chemical or flowery. Kind of earthy.

I like this little and the looks of the rest of the line of mini candles because they are like the perfect gift...think stocking stuffer. Why give someone a huge candle of a scent they may not like. Give them a mini candle and they can try the scent out. If they like it, then a larger candle can be bought later. Just perfect. I also like how the candles have unique scents.  With scents like Frosted Cupcake and Toffee Crunch, I'm sure there is a candle for everyone!

Beauty Blogger VoxBox 2012

I was recently chosen to receive an awesome VoxBox from Influenster.  A VoxBox contains products from various companies for the member to try and tell people about them. Well the Beauty Blogger VoxBox for 2012 had some amazing goodies in it.

The box contained:
NYC New York Color IndividualEyes Custom Compact ($4.99): Four colors in one compact mean to be used to create an eye enhancing look.

Kiss Ever Pro Lashes Starter Kit ($5.99): Salon quality eye lashes done at home.

Bath and Body Works Mini Candle ($3.50): Cute little candle with an amazing scent.

EBOOST effervescent powder: Mix with water to create a great tasting drink that will boost your mood and focus.

Goody Simple Styles Spin Pin ($7.29):  Easy to use hair accessory that allows you to create an updo in minutes. So simple!

Not Your Mother's Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream: Encourages curls and tames frizz and fly-aways.

Vitabath Fragrance Mist: Fabulous scented body spray with unique formula for a revitalizing scent.

I was totally surprised at all the great products in the box.  I immediately pull the Spin Pin out of the box and tried them. I had to actually put them pack in their package to take the picture of them. I've tried almost all the products given to me and I am very impressed with them.  I'll tell more about each product in individual blog posts.

BzzAgent Glade Expressions Collection Campaign

I was lucky enough to be chosen for a BzzAgent Glade Expressions Collection Campaign.  They sent me tons of coupons to hand out to my friends and family and two free coupons to use for myself.  Unfortunately, none of the stores around me seem to carry this particular line of Glade products.  Not a single Glade Expressions Oil Diffuser or Glade Expressions Fragrance Mist Starter kit in sight.  I looked high and low, none were to be found across the lands.  But fear not, I had some of the products already in my house so I can at least tell you about them.

The Glade Expressions Collection has four scents: Pineapple & Mangosteen (I have no idea what a Mangosteen is suppose to be), Cotton & Italian Mandarin, Fuji Apple & Cardamom Spice, and Lavender & Juniper Berry.

I've had the please of trying all four scents in the past and I must say that I enjoy the Fuji Apple scent best in the kitchen and the Cotton scent best in the bathroom.  The lavender scent is also decent. I did not like the Pineapple product. The smell gave me a headache.    The oil diffuser has a stylish holder so it looks great sitting on the table or shelf. The mist holder is also refillable and doesn't look too bad sitting out either.  While I don't think these are the best products Glade has ever produced, they aren't bad. I would like to see a wider variety of scent and of course more availability in the store.

The journey to an upgraded computer.

The only computer I like to play is World of Warcraft (begin with the eye rolling).  Last week their newest patch 5.0.4 went live. And my frame rate died. I got a whopping 9 fps with my character out in the middle of nowhere and every setting turned to low.  I have the picture to prove it.

Now I would love to blame Blizzard for "breaking my fps" but I know quite well that my computer isn't the best. I've got an eMachine ET1331G, which comes with a 300w power supply and a Nvidia GeForce 6150SE nForce 430.  And yes I know with a computer like that I most likely deserve that 9 fps for trying to play an online game like World of Warcraft.

So started the journey to an upgrade. I've never installed or bought a graphics card before. I didn't know where to start.  I looked at graphic cards on Amazon but I couldn't figure out what to buy. What did I need? I knew the computer had a PCI Express port but didn't fully know what that was. I ended up at tomshardware.com. That site has a great forum full of people willing to help answer the questions of the clueless.

They gave me the names of a few cards that "might" work in my computer and told me to buy a new power supply.  By "might" I guess we are talking about the fact that you have to have room inside the case to put the graphics card. I have no idea why any company would build a computer and assemble it in a manner in which it can not be upgraded properly. Built in obsolescence most likely.  With the names of cards and power supplies in hand, I found myself back at Amazon.com.

I ordered a Radeon 6670 graphics card and Corsair 500w power supply. My order is set to arrive on Wednesday.  The next part of this journey will continue then, when I find out if these parts will fit and if I can install them properly.

A bit of summer reading...

I love to read. It is one of my all-time favorite things to do. I can sit with a book for hours and just escape. So when BzzAgent.com, of which I am a member, gave me the opportunity to get two free books for my Amazon Kindle, I jumped at the chance. Nothing better than free books, right?

The two books were The Hangman’s Daughter and The Dark Monk by Oliver Potzsch.  Yeah, I’ve never heard of the guy either.  The covers look a bit grim or plain. Which is why you should never judge a book by its cover.

The books center around a hangman, his daughter, and the town’s young doctor. They use a bit of common sense and logic that makes me think a bit of Sherlock Holmes to solve murders that happen in their areas.  I thought the books were going to be boring or gruesome due to the fact the main character is an executioner. I was wrong. There is witty banter and good plot lines.  The hangman, Jacob Kuisl, is an intriguing character.  His job is to torture people and to put them to death, but I find him to one of the most likeable, kind people in the the book. He is intelligent and likes to heal people more than he likes to harm them.

I’ll be honest. I enjoyed these books much more than I thought I would.  I thought The Hangman’s Daughter was going to be boring…maybe gory, but still boring. A book with history based in a part of the world that I have never been to.  But I found myself drawn in the books. The old school doctoring, the mystery to solve.  The witchcraft scare. The book was just a good read.  The Dark Monk reminded me a bit of books wrote by author Dan Brown, with the riddles and the mentioning of the Knights Templar. I love a good mystery and  a good mystery only gets better when you throw in age old conspiracy and secret sects.  I am looking forward to reading more by Oliver Potzsch.

BzzAgent Garnier Fructis Campaign

Been a while since I did any blog posts, but I got a great campaign from Bzzagent so I had to share. Bzzagent is an awesome site that allows members, like me, to sign up for campaigns to sample products from companies and to share those products with others. Then I get to give them my opinion. How awesome is that?!?!

So this campaign is the Garnier Fructis campaign. They sent me a bottle of Garnier Fructis Fortifying Shampoo Triple Nutrition for Dry, Damaged hair and a bottle of Fortifying Conditioner Triple Nutrition for Dry, Damaged Hair. Awesome kit, right?

Anyway, these products work pretty good. I generally tend to use whatever kind of shampoo or conditioner I have a coupon for, so I don't really have a "favorite" brand that I am loyal to.  But Garnier Fructis produced a wonderful product when they made this line.  My hair feels beautiful and shiny.  The shampoo rinses away easily leaving my hair feeling clean and pampered. The conditioner is the right consistency...not too runny and not too thick.

The scents of the products is good.  To most people they would probably smell amazing, but I am picky about scents so I just say they are okay.  But it isn't too overwhelming nor is it too weak. I would say the scent has just the right amount of smell.

All in all, I got to try some great products and I was really happy with this campaign! :)
